Rebellion Wrestling League Debuts Friday Night

This is considered the brainchild of Simon Reed of “The Posse” as the new Rebellion Wrestling League opens its doors officially this coming Friday night in Newbern, TN. I made a stop there a couple of weeks back on my way to Ripley, TN and sold a few books. The place was not completed, but a lot of hard work had been put in the building to have a nice arena. Jason Reed and Chris O’Neal have also been instrumental in getting the building and get this new promotion established. PK Ripper was busy the day I was there working with setting up video cameras, lighting and sound. He will return to wrestling this Friday night after his long stint with TIWF ended abruptly a few weeks back. I talked with Simon Reed today and he said to expect the following and maybe more on the debut show: “The Posse” [Simon Reed/Lil Chris], Eric Wayne, Kid Nikels, Derrick King, Stan Lee, Bishop, PK Ripper, Overkill, Weasel, “The Baron” Malkavain, JD Rage, Jason Reed and Chris O’Neal.

CHIKARA: The 27th trio revealed as King of Trios 2008 draws near!

They are coming from across the globe: Japan, Mexico, Canada, Egypt and Europe. They are coming from all over the United States: From Pennsylvania to Hawaii, from Minnesota to Louisiana. Georgia Wrestling Promotions has added Raven, David Young, and Buff Bagwell to their roster. Raven's first appearance will be February 29 in Woodstock, GA, and he has also been added to the March 14 Night of the Legends show in Dalton, GA. Young has made a committed to doing all of the upcoming GWP shows. Bagwell will be a semi-regular. (Charlotte, NC) - Portia Perez has contacted the PGWA offices to inform us that she has scheduled her first PGWA Championship defense, to be held in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, February the 22nd. Her opponent will be Melissa Coates.

What took PGWA officials by surprise is that Portia Perez is NOT the PGWA Champion. Not yet, anyway. She is scheduled to face Nikki Roxx, the current Champ, for the belt this Friday, the 15th.

Apparently, not actually being in lawful possession of the belt has not deterred Ms. Perez from making formal plans regarding her expected title reign.

As a rule, the PGWA does not encourage its talent to book their own matches and inform the front office after the fact. However, after some consideration, it was agreed that a Perez/Coates match has the potential to be an excellent contest, with Portia’s speed and agility contrasting sharply with Melissa’s strength and stamina. And should Portia manage to beat Nikki Roxx for the title this Friday, Commissioner Penny Banner will sanction her match against Melissa as a PGWA Championship match.

The Portia Perez/Melissa Coates match will take place under the auspices of the USWO on Friday, February 22 at the Stadium Inn, 10 Interstate Dr. in Nashville. Belltime is at 8:00 PM. Tickets are $10 at the door."

Southern States Wrestling 17th Anniversary Show

Southern States Wrestling presents their 17th Anniversary Spectacular this Friday, February 15 at The National Guard Armory in Kingsport, TN. The Main Event promises to a war as "The King of Kingsport" Beau James teams with Tony "The Dragon" Givens to battle Manager John Hawkins' top two men Chris Richards and The Disciple. James promises he will unmask the Disciple or leave Kingsport for good.

PGWA TITLE MATCH SCHEDULED FOR FEBRUARY 15

The Professional Girl Wrestling Association is pleased to announce a title match for the PGWA Championship, to be held in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, February 15.

PGWA Champion Nikki Roxx will defend her title against Portia Perez. Hailing from Canada, Perez recently scored victories in two consecutive matches against Roxx in other independent organizations, and on the basis of those wins, has demanded a third match, with the PGWA belt on the line.

Perez was already booked to appear for the United States Wrestling Organization in Nashville on the 15th, but with no opponent scheduled. Owing to the past working relationship between the PGWA and the USWO, it was quickly determined that Roxx would be booked to face Perez, and that PGWA Commissioner Penny Banner would sanction the bout as a title match.

This championship match has been dubbed the “St. Valentine’s Melee!”

Many fans know that Nikki Roxx has achieved tremendous success and exposure lately in TNA, where she wrestles as “Roxxie Laveaux”. She won the PGWA title in the spring of 2005, having traveled to Manchester, England to challenge Pippa L’Vinn for the belt. In the three years since, Roxx has defended her crown against a number of top contenders, including MsChif and Christie Ricci…both former NWA Women’s World Champions. This will be a rare opportunity for Nashville fans to again see her live in action.

Portia Perez is fast emerging as an important figure in the sport, and has dazzled audiences across Canada, the United States and Mexico, as well as in several European nations. Her recent victories over Nikki only underscore her worthiness as a contender for the belt.

This will be the first time since 2006 that the PGWA has held a match at the Stadium Inn in Nashville. The PGWA’s relationship with the USWO and promoter Tony Falk goes back several years before that, when the promotion successfully hosted a great many PGWA matches and even entire cards at its facilities. The PGWA has also had an excellent working arrangement with another Nashville-area promotion, Southern All-Star Wrestling, and looks forward to continuing to work with both SAW and the USWO to bring quality women’s pro wrestling to the Volunteer State. Certainly, Nashville pro wrestling fans are blessed to have these two outstanding promotions in their region, and they have responded by giving both organizations large turnouts at their weekly cards.

STEVE CORINO RELINQUISHES ABSOLUTE TITLE
As of January 1 st , 2008 Steve Corino's contractual obligation to Absolute Intense Entertainment, LLC was over. Steve has since retired from professional wrestling and has done everything in his power to defend the title. Due to canceled flights both in October and December Steve was unable to make it to the shows and has now relinquished his title.

With the title being vacant AIW Owner Chandler Biggins has now signed the Gauntlet for the Gold match featuring 30 men in a royal rumble style battle royal where the winner becomes the next Absolute Champion.

In October Dios Salvador and Sterling James Keenan competed in a number one contender's match where the match ended in a draw. With both being the number one contender and the title being vacant, Chandler Biggins has signed a match between the two at Gauntlet for the Gold where the winner of the match is the 30 th entrant into the Gauntlet for the Gold match.

GARGANO GETS A TASTE OF HIS OWN MEDICINE
On December 16 th , 2007 at “The Nightmare before X-Mass” Johnny Gargano revealed himself to be responsible for the “Can You Break the Code” campaign that was featured on a MySpace profile. Gargano returned to Absolute Intense Wrestling and quickly challenged Intense Division champion Tyler Black to a match for the title. Gargano did not get the immediate shot at the title and had to face off against Tyler's friend Shane Hollister. Black still hasn't agreed to a matchup but is giving Gargano a taste of his own medicine by selecting a mystery opponent at Gauntlet for the Gold 3. The only way Black will accept a match with Gargano is if Johnny can defeat Black's handpicked opponent.

NECROBUTCHER RETURNS FOR REVENGE
At Hell on Earth 3 back in October of 2007 we saw Drake Younger team up with “The Passion” John Thorne at the end of the match and join Revelation 13. Drake then gave Necro a Death Valley Driver off the ring apron through a table to the floor to Necrobutcher. The fans along with Necro have demanded a return and Biggins has signed the deal. Necrobutcher returns on February 24 th at Gauntlet for the Gold 3 to take on “The Passion” John Thorne one on one in a hardcore revenge match! If you thought the 3 way dance at Hell on Earth 3 was brutal both men have vowed to hurt each other in ways that are indescribable.

As noted on Monday Night Raw, Triple H was dealing with a family emergency and missed both Raw tapings last night in Austin, Texas. John Hawkins Promotions: "Tennessee Redneck" Chris Richards, "The Cold" Alyx Winters, The Disciple, & "Young Guns" Cody Ices.

John Hawkins will be handcuffed to CW Commissioner Chuck Roberts and Mr. Bolo will be barred from Ringside during this match!

The Rules:
1 Man from each team will start the match.
After 5 minutes, a coin toss will be held between the 2 teams, the team that wins the coin toss will then send another person into the cage, making it 2 on 1 for next 2 minute period. At the end of those 2 minutes, the team who lost the coin toss will send a member into the cage evening the odds at 2 on 2. Wrestlers will continue to enter the cage every 2 minutes following the same pattern until all 8 wrestlers are in the ring. The match can only end when 1 wrestler submits or surrenders.

The Stakes:
If John Hawkins Promotions wins, then the losing member of the People's Army will have to leave Championship Wrestling forever! If The People's Army wins, then the member of the team that scores the decision will get 5 minutes in the cage 1 on 1 with John Hawkins!

Due to the graphic nature of this match, NO portions of this match will air on Championship Wrestling TV. The only way to see this match is to be there LIVE!

Race to the Top Challenge

There will be 4 Qualifying Matches earlier in the night. The Winners of those matches will compete in a 4 Way Cage Match. The Only way to win this match is to Race to the Top and escape from the Cage. The Winner of this Match will receive an open contract for any match, at any time, with any stipulation against anybody on the CW Roster!

Our annual tradition of kicking off a new season of live CHIKARA events with a massive tournament dates back to the Tag World Grand Prix 2005, and continues in 2008 with King of Trios! Like last year's tournament, the trios will be split in half - the first half will compete on Night 1, which is Friday, February 29th. The other half wrestle on Night 2, Saturday, March 1st, and the remaining teams will face off until just one remains on Sunday afternoon, March 2nd. Unlike years past, all three days of the tournament will take place at the same venue - the New Alhambra (former ECW Arena) in South Philadelphia. This will make travel and accommodations much easier for not just the wrestlers, but the many great fans who often travel long distances to witness this gigantic event.
